London Oak Jewellery
In 63AD the Romans had to rebuild the port facilities of London on a part of the Thames. The most enduring material for this structure at that time was wood. They found a small forest of Oak trees growing on the Greenwich peninsula and dragged the huge timbers to the site. Slowly over time the Roman port had become submerged and has been preserved in silt for over 2,000 years. We now own this remarkable material and like diamonds there is a limited amount of this precious artefact. Using innovative new technology in order to utilise this resource, we have made a core London Oak collection.
